about
Jenna G releases her debut Bandcamp single with the live project Jenna & The Gs in response to the global BLM movement and current UK protests against systemic racism.
Moving Up, the funk fuelled floor filler, calls for people to 'get up’ and affirms the ‘right to be free’ with all sales proceeds going tothe Black Minds Matter UK and The Stephen Lawrence Trust charities.
‘We're creating a video from footage of protests around the UK, in response to the repeated rhetoric that these protests are just about the US, cause we know the UK is not innocent. I hope to help keep the conversations going on how to better our dismantling of systemic racism and action equality whilst documenting the power of the UKs peaceful protests in the name black lives matter’ says artist Jenna G
Video drops 3pm (BST) 3rd July 2020 - check facebook page for the link.
Thank you to all protesters from across the UK and The Mcr creative crew that helped to make this release and video happen.

lyrics
Don't be falling asleep (why)
The mind messages pressure your precious consciousness
Turn us against our brother, take a bad example give it to another
Who can we believe, when they've got the facts surrendered
Blame it on you, tell it on me said
People wake up now, People wake up now
Say you wanna believe
Well facts fiction when written by many hands
and translations don't make it right every time
Take it like a shot, read between the lines (how)
Question why it is
So many choices cause confusion
I don't know you, i dont know me, said
People wake up now, People wake up now
We got the right, to be free
You got the right,to be free
We want the right, to be free
You want the right,to be free
Act like you don't know
Well if you didn't listen you're in control
No point sitting wishing it wasn't so
Manifest destiny as we move towards (what)
A positive perspective, negative attitudes get rejected on a real
We're moving up
People get up now, People get up now
Ugh
Yeah
Thats right
Everybody, get up
Come on
Stand up all people
Cause if we don't will evolve
Make it different better than what you know
Loving yourself means love for all (yes)
With a positive perspective, negative actions get deflected on the real
We're moving up
People get up now, People get up now
People get up now, People get up now
Sisters & brothers, hear me when i say
Killing each other ain't the way
Follow your destiny, listen to your soul
Take on life, you are in control
You got the right to be free yeah
We got the right, we want the right
Ohh freedom, freedom yeah___

A funkin' 8 piece band lead by DnB songstress Jenna G. Originals, reworks and classic covers always with a heavy dose of funk and a whole lot of soul!
Who doesn't wanna be in a 80s Lovescene - sonically or literally! Loving all of this years releases they've given us some isolation sexiness we didn't know we needed :) Jenna & The Gs
Nice to see these dnb experimenters going in on different styles and experimenting with new/old sounds. Would recommend to any electro or dnb fan. jef37
